How do sea turtles grow to adults?

Did you know that sea turtles were in our world for
150 million years and 50% don’t live.

Approximately 20 years to breed and females swim
to a beach to lay their eggs high and all the eggs are a size
of a ping pong ball, plus 50 to 200 eggs are laid.  

When they hatch into a baby sea turtle, they run as fast to the ocean,
and swim above seaweed because their predators are crabs, raccoons and seagulls.

When they are growing up there predators are killer whales, fishes and sharks
because they don't like baby sea turtle so much because they don’t have much
meat/ guts in it.

When they are adult they have a few predators,
mostly large sharks, fishes, dogs, seabirds, raccoons,
ghost crabs, and other predators prey on eggs and hatch lings.

All of the sea turtles live for approximately 80 years old.

This completes the fascinating life cycle of the sea turtles.
The action of growing from an egg to a breeding as a journey for your
life there is only 10% of the sea turtles.

Ban plastic bags

WALT: Write a strong persuasive argument

Do you think we should ban plastic bags?

I think yes because they are poisonous and turtles like to eat jellyfish and plastic bags look like jelly fish if
you were a turtle.

You should ban plastic bags because it is effective to kill animals, so we can use fabric bags for
supermarkets.

All supermarkets should not use bags because if you eat seafood the sea creatures can
eat plastic bags and if you eat seafood then the plastic is in your food chain and, sea animals
food chain too.

You can use fabric bags and give it to all countries supermarket. You can use the fabric
bags over and over again so you don't need to throw them out and lets sea animals die.
It will not be for putting in the bin and it won't ruin animals life, It is much safer than
the plastic bags isn’t it?

Please never use plastic bags ever again in our life because plastic bags are very poisonous
and has a lot of chemicals in the bag. I think we should not have plastic bags any more in the world.

Reading

Did you know that John Hyatt was the second person that made something out of plastic
and it is ping pong balls. The plastic that was made to create ping pong balls is called celluloid.

Alexander parkes has the first one to create plastic which he called parkesine.

A 19 year old boy he is dutch and he prevented a trap for plastic and rubbish.

This week in writing we have been learning about how to write a persuasive argument.

I found it challenging trying to find heavily words to convince my audience.

I felt strongly about persuasive writing so choose that topic was easy.

Eating Takeaways

Would you rather be healthy or lazy?

I know not eating takeaways would help your health.

First - Did you know that take aways is not healthy at all but it is divine, that is why they have them so it can be for a treat and if you were traveling.

Second - Is to only have it for a treat sometimes. You could get food poisoned. It is okay to have it once a week.

Third - If you have takeaways then that either might be that you can’t be bothered cooking or not much food left and also maybe you're being lazy. Did you also know that Mcdonalds was built in 1955. Do you know the maths of 2018 - __=1955? I know it is 63 years ago because it was in the information about it on google.

If you eat too much KFC them what do you think would happen?

I know you would have too much weight.

How many years do you think KFC has been around for?

I think 6 years because I had found some information from google.

If you eat more healthy food than unhealthy food like takeaways it will help you health level.

CATS - Who Need Them?

They are good company for friends at home.
They can be a threat to birds and some times other animals.
If you look after the cat that you have now is that you could keep them healthy don't let them threaten birds and other animals.

This cat is relaxed and calm and it looks like it is not a threaten.

These cats look like they are threatens to each other each day and they are kittens Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that is so adorable.

Cats are threatens to these types of animals.

This cat is a bad threaten to birds that must be the cats habbit

This cat must of ran into a dog that is savage their.

Kite Eating Tree

WALT: choose vocabulary carefully.

In literacy have been learning about Kites.

We used lots of reflective questions to think about the picture.

I found it difficult and challenging because it was a hard decision what to say for the characters.

 First we did a plan about the kite.

LIGHTHOUSE

We are learning about lighthouses and we have watched a clip animation about the lighthouse light go's out when the ship is close.

LIGHTHOUSE

“Be quiet you noisy people!” complained the lighthouse keeper. “Now where was I?

What was that?” he questioned.

“Oh better go check” he groaned as he climbed up the stairs.

“Oh ohh there is a boat and the light is not working” said the lighthouse keeper in a worried way. “Oh man what should I do?”

As the lighthouse keeper moved the lens to check the light and he tripped over the toolbox “Ahh” he cried. SMASH! went the lens on the floor.

“Oh no” he said in a sad way. “What am I going to do?”

Suddenly the lighthouse keeper heard a knock at the door, and there was the town with lanterns.

“Oh, people with lights. Quick bring the lights at the boucanee and hold the lanterns up high” he thanked the town.

“Oh the ship is closer”

“Yay we did it!”

Don't let the pigeon stay up late

We have been learning to use opinions for storys like:

In my opinion The tired pigeon shouldn't stay up late because…

If the pigeon stays up late the pigeon will wake up grumpy because he needs sleep.

If the pigeon stays up late he will be very grumpy and tired because he really needed sleep otherwise he is really tired to go to the funeral at 6am.

If the pigeon wakes up early he will be very tired so he can't go to his swimming class which is at 7 a.m.

There will always be a reason why the pigeon should not stay up late!

Brilliant - Antarctica

Antarctica is a freezing, gigantic desert but it’s the   windiest and driest continent in the world too. It is the biggest, coldest and most awesome place to reconnoiter (explore). Antarctica would be a fun place visit but you would really not want to live there.

In Antarctica it looks super windy. Antarctica sounds incredibly stormy but they can not help us from blowing away. Antarctica feels like a really windy place to visit and that it is so icy. In Antarctica it is very weird that there are predators that are getting hurt and that they can die but some other species can die too, some can not die.

I feel amazing that you can do an observation (experiment) about the weather and climate at Antarctica.

I wish I could go to Antarctica to find out facts about the weather the most because… I would want to know the weather temperature every day.

Bees

We are learning about insects and I have done a brain storm about it and writ it on to a google slides.

Hide & Seek

we have been doing some hide and seek and we have done a brainstorm about our hiding spot.

1. Start from the TV in room 8.

2. take 5 steps straight.

3. turn left and take 6 giant steps.

4. Then take 4 steps to your right and face the door.

5. Next walk to the door and stop.

6. Reach your hand to the door handle and open the door.

7. walk forwards turn left and walk to the end of the room 8.

8.Turn left and walk to room 12 turn.

9. left again and walk to the back of room 5 and 6.

10. Your destination will be on your left.

Clues: In a bush, between room 5 & 6.

Stick Insects

We have been learning how to write a information report about stick insects.

Oh no it is a insect.

It is a stick insect.

The maori word for a stick insect is ro.

Stick insects live in bushes and trees so that they can camouflage themselves when a predator comes.

Stick insects eat leaves.

Birds, wasps, and possums munch stick insects because they are predators but stick insects use Camouflage to keep safe.Camouflage means that they can look like plants and that they can not be seen by the predators.

I think stick insects are awesome and, I love the camouflage is my favourite thing about, the stick insect.

ANZAC

For the last two weeks we have been learning about ANZAC Day and why we remember the people who have risked their lives for our freedom and our way of life.

We read stories like... journals about the new Zealand's war.

We had a special visitor who was Connie's nana and she showed us about her great uncle's stuff.

We watched some videos about... the gallipoli song about the sons of gallipoli.

Some of the activities we did was... a word find.
