LIGHTHOUSE

We are learning about lighthouses and we have watched a clip animation about the lighthouse light go's out when the ship is close.

LIGHTHOUSE

“Be quiet you noisy people!” complained the lighthouse keeper. “Now where was I?
What was that?” he questioned.
“Oh better go check” he groaned as he climbed up the stairs.
“Oh ohh there is a boat and the light is not working” said the lighthouse keeper in a worried way. “Oh man what should I do?”
As the lighthouse keeper moved the lens to check the light and he tripped over the toolbox “Ahh” he cried. SMASH! went the lens on the floor.
“Oh no” he said in a sad way. “What am I going to do?”
Suddenly the lighthouse keeper heard a knock at the door, and there was the town with lanterns.
“Oh, people with lights. Quick bring the lights at the boucanee and hold the lanterns up high” he thanked the town.
“Oh the ship is closer”
“Yay we did it!”

Don't let the pigeon stay up late

We have been learning to use opinions for storys like:
Don't let the pigeon drive the bus
Don't let the pigeon stay up late
The pigeon wants a puppy
The pigeon needs a bath

Don’t let the pigeon stay up late.


In my opinion The tired pigeon shouldn't stay up late because…


If the pigeon stays up late the pigeon will wake up grumpy because he needs sleep.


If the pigeon stays up late he will be very grumpy and tired because he really needed sleep otherwise he is really tired to go to the funeral at 6am.


If the pigeon wakes up early he will be very tired so he can't go to his swimming class which is at 7 a.m.


There will always be a reason why the pigeon should not stay up late!

Coding

For the last term we have been doing an activity called stem and in STEM we have also bean doing Coding and Robotics.
When we have started doing them I went into the Coding group and it is amazing because we get to create a maze and there are heaps of codes to use for it.
When we have started we used scratch to do it with and it is a good site to go on.
there is a link for the scratch site down below.
When we first started on week 1 we were good and we had some experts that were good at it to including me so when we started the experts help the other people and they used good manners to us and I did 7 people.
On week 2 we went back on the site and we done task 2 and it was a fantastic job.
Then the third week we had a confusing day so we had to get help with some of the experts and they were good at it so we had as much help s we can and it was perfect.
Then 1 week later we made it in time to the 4 week.

I feel awesome to be at our New School.
I hear the bell singing “Happy” for 30 seconds.
I smell fresh new building and new earthy wood.
I touch the gloss on the new tables.
Overall, I feel ecstatic with our new adventuring school.

Rainy Day Art

This week we have been doing some weather art and we have done one of them.

WALT: Use dye and crayons to make a rainy day.

Step 1. Use a whit crayon for the rain and the puddles on the floor.

Step 2. Use the colored crayons to make a Rainbow.

Step 3. Use the dark blue and dark grey dye to do the scary dark clouds.

My favorite penguin

We were learning about Antarctica and we have made a penguin painting

step 1. sketch the penguin.
step 2. do the black paint for the penguin.
step 3. do the yellow and orange paint on the penguin.
step 4. do the white paint and the green paint for the eye.

Brilliant - Antarctica

Antarctica is a freezing, gigantic desert but it’s the   windiest and driest continent in the world too. It is the biggest, coldest and most awesome place to reconnoiter (explore). Antarctica would be a fun place visit but you would really not want to live there.

In Antarctica it looks super windy. Antarctica sounds incredibly stormy but they can not help us from blowing away. Antarctica feels like a really windy place to visit and that it is so icy. In Antarctica it is very weird that there are predators that are getting hurt and that they can die but some other species can die too, some can not die.

I feel amazing that you can do an observation (experiment) about the weather and climate at Antarctica.
I wish I could go to Antarctica to find out facts about the weather the most because… I would want to know the weather temperature every day.

Hide & Seek

we have been doing some hide and seek and we have done a brainstorm about our hiding spot.

  1. Start from the TV in room 8.
2. take 5 steps straight.
3. turn left and take 6 giant steps.
4. Then take 4 steps to your right and face the door.
5. Next walk to the door and stop.
6. Reach your hand to the door handle and open the door.
7. walk forwards turn left and walk to the end of the room 8.
8.Turn left and walk to room 12 turn.
9. left again and walk to the back of room 5 and 6.
10. Your destination will be on your left.

Clues: In a bush, between room 5 & 6.

Stick Insects

We have been learning how to write a information report about stick insects.

Oh no it is a insect.
It is a stick insect.
The maori word for a stick insect is ro.

Stick insects live in bushes and trees so that they can camouflage themselves when a predator comes.
Stick insects eat leaves.
Birds, wasps, and possums munch stick insects because they are predators but stick insects use Camouflage to keep safe.Camouflage means that they can look like plants and that they can not be seen by the predators.

I think stick insects are awesome and, I love the camouflage is my favourite thing about, the stick insect.

ANZAC

For the last two weeks we have been learning about ANZAC Day and why we remember the people who have risked their lives for our freedom and our way of life.

We read stories like... journals about the new Zealand's war.

We had a special visitor who was Connie's nana and she showed us about her great uncle's stuff.

We watched some videos about... the gallipoli song about the sons of gallipoli.

Some of the activities we did was... a word find.
